Etchings made from nature
A drawing is scratched with an etching needle into an acid resisting layer of bitumen+melted wax. The acid 'bites' the scratched lines in the metal plate, a repeated process to obtain more expression. For color or photo-etching several same-size plates are used and printed by hand on the press Bendini Bologna.
