A drawing is scratched with an etching needle into an acid resisting layer of bitumen mixed with melted wax. The acid 'bites' the scratched lines. More lines means repeating the process to obtain more expression. Color or photo-etching is done on several same-size plates. I printed all my etchings by hand on my press Bendini Bologna.
